Yume was a dream that was waiting to happen for long term friends Giovanna McCarthy and Jacqui Caley. Their friendship blossomed right at the beginning of their hairdressing careers and after almost three decades and a multitude of hairdressing ventures together and apart, felt it was finally the right time to take their friendship and skills to another level to create Yume in August 2006.
Not only do Giovanna and Jacqui share their friendship with you here at Yume, they share the same high standards and professionalism along with a rich blend of individual and varied hairdressing skills, knowledge and creative innovation.
We ensure that as a client you are treated with professionalism, expertise and exceptional high standard of customer care and concern for your hair health and beauty needs.
It is important to us that at the end of each visit here at Yume, that you are completely happy with the way you look and the way you feel.
As Yume evolves with the industry trends we shall continue to educate and share our knowledge, innovation and creativity so that you our client evolve with us, with new possibilities and above all a new you!
The Yume team is like a family, we strive to create happy guests, where stresses are left at the front door. Yume means ‘dream; in Japanese so let us, the Yume family, take you on your journey where we can create the dream you…

Within 30 years, I feel lucky to have achieved many of my personal goals within my hairdressing career, these include Salon Management, Photographic work, Fashion shows, Bridal hair and Teaching Hairdressing up to NVQ Level 3.
I am now in the process of combining all of these skills into the teaching, directing and management side of the constantly growing, Hair Health and Beauty Business - Yume, a vision of a concept that makes people look and feel their best - all under one roof. I am, these days, often found deep behind the scenes. Working on the next big salon project, promotion, or training session. Keeping the growing team fully equipped with the up - to - date knowledge and guidance they need, to always go that extra mile, for our very important Yume clients.
I thrive on making a difference to the way people look and feel, and enjoy a lengthy consultation where I can advice the very best products to maintain healthy and beautiful looking hair.
As a stylist in this industry, my 30 years of experience has equipped me with a diverse range of knowledge and skills that I enjoy sharing day to day, with my team and with the clients. Creating a positive and nurturing experience within the salon, not only with the team and their personal development but importantly with the clientele is an essential focus for me. I take great pleasure seeing stylists and assistants happy with their work and clients walking out of our doors feeling amazing with a spring in the step!
I relish the chance to explore the new trends and techniques with clients, sharing anything new or inspiring. Tailoring my cutting, colour work and advice to suit my clients style, lifestyle, skin tone and seasonal needs is continually rewarding, whether its subtle or of a re-inventive nature.
Weddings are a big part of my work and creativity, being part of the planning and preparation of the bride and her party for the big day, is always highly rewarding. For me, styling a brides hair becomes art, a sculpture and an enjoyable challenge.
I am a creative stylist with over 20 years experience in hairdressing. After qualifying I worked as a junior stylist and then decided to travel and work in Europe to broaden my horizons.
After my travels I decided to retrain to specialise in cutting; starting at Vidal Sassoon and then at Toni & Guy where I then worked for the next 10 years. During this time I found my creative flare and I have now specialised in cutting for over 12 years.
Cutting and styling is where my passion truly lies and I love working organically to create new styles and shapes to suit individuals bone structure, personal style & lifestyle. I have had some of my work published for magazines and have also travelled to the Toni & Guy London academy numerous times for further training in advanced cutting techniques.
I take pride in keeping up to date with new trends and try to stay one step ahead creating my own interpretation of fashion and modern styles.
I have always wanted to become a hairdresser from such a young age, I love the diverse creativity you can get from this job. I've always felt very passionate about hair and I am always trying to become the best that I can!
I am a very positive and enthusiastic person and love how I am able to show my personality through the creativity of my work.
Working at Yume has opened up my eyes to how much more I can learn and how to improve/push my skills to the best of my ability.
I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to experience an international placement with ISA, in gaining hairdressing experience in Cyprus. I felt this really helped me grow as a hairstylist - I love a new challenge!
I am always very eager to know the latest trends, and then to then create them on my clients to help them feel up to date. I have experienced being a Wella colour finalist for Trend Vision, the immensity of the opportunity and experience has fuelled me to do more creative colour work, courses and photographic work and eventually become a Wella Master Colour Specialist.
I feel honoured to have the pleasure to work here at Yume, it is an incredible team to work for. We are always being supported and helped to progress further in our careers.
I am hoping to enter more competitions in the future and to get my name well known in the hairdressing industry.
My name is Niamh and I have been with Yume for just under 2 years. I have completed my NVQ level 1 qualification and now working through my level 2. Although I still have a long way to go, I have learnt so many skills and gained confidence due to the high quality training that I am receiving. I am planning on perfecting and developing my skills such as cutting, colouring, barbering, styling etc. I am looking forward to furthering my skills and becoming a graduate stylist very soon!
I have recently finished my GCSE’s (one of them being hair and beauty ). I started working at yume just over a year initially as a Saturday girl. The more Saturdays I worked, the more comfortable and confident with the Yume team I became!... My passion for hairdressing became bigger due to the high end quality of training I get from yume. I am currently working on my level 1 NVQ hairdressing qualification with the help of the in house training I revive. I hope to develop my career further ,to become a Yume stylist.
I work at YUME Hair & Beauty as a Saturday girl. I have such a lovely time as the environment is always so positive and welcoming, it i s like a second home. As part of my role, I make beverages, talk to clients, clean and obviously - sweep! However the best part of my job is the fact that I get to learn by observing! I’m hoping to get an apprenticeship after I finish school so this is so beneficial to me and I’m so grateful for how fortunate I am to be surrounded by such lovely staff. I love working here and I look forward to my Saturdays - getting out of bed isn’t even a struggle I love it that much! Hopefully one day I will be as good as Giovanna at hairdressing, that’s my life goal! I’m so thankful to be a part of this lovely team.
