About Us

In 2006, the Yume brand was born in Park Grove Cardiff. Since then the Hair and Beauty Teams have been overwhelmed with more and more fabulous guests who enjoy the Yume experience, and keep coming back for more.

Salon owners, management and artistic teams share an ethos of high standards for our guests. Each team member has a rich blend of individual hairdressing skills, business skills and creative innovation.

Education is key - with in-salon teachers and assessors delivering weekly sessions, external Wella educators delivering hair workshops, and courses at our affiliated Wella Colour Studios in London and Manchester - Yume prides itself on investing in people, to ensure a unique blend of up-to-date, creative expertise and professionalism, with a relaxing, friendly approach.

Over the years Yume has evolved and improved the hugely successful concept with more research, education and training creating an equal level of talent and exceptional customer care in each of their salons.

Giovanna McCarthy – Salon Owner/Managing Director

Within 30 years, I feel lucky to have achieved many of my personal goals within my hairdressing career, these include Salon Management, Photographic work, Fashion shows, Bridal hair and Teaching Hairdressing up to NVQ Level 3.

I am now in the process of combining all of these skills into the teaching, directing and management side of the constantly growing, Hair Health and Beauty Business - Yume, a vision of a concept that makes people look and feel their best - all under one roof. I am, these days, often found deep behind the scenes. Working on the next big salon project, promotion, or training session. Keeping the growing team fully equipped with the up - to - date knowledge and guidance they need, to always go that extra mile, for our very important Yume clients.

I thrive on making a difference to the way people look and feel, and enjoy a lengthy consultation where I can advice the very best products to maintain healthy and beautiful looking hair.

Jacqui Caley – Salon Owner/ Creative Director

Jacqui Caley – Artistic Designer

As a stylist in this industry, my 30 years of experience has equipped me with a diverse range of knowledge and skills that I enjoy sharing day to day, with my team and with the clients. Creating a positive and nurturing experience within the salon, not only with the team and their personal development but importantly with the clientele is an essential focus for me. I take great pleasure seeing stylists and assistants happy with their work and clients walking out of our doors feeling amazing with a spring in the step!

I relish the chance to explore the new trends and techniques with clients, sharing anything new or inspiring. Tailoring my cutting, colour work and advice to suit my clients style, lifestyle, skin tone and seasonal needs is continually rewarding, whether its subtle or of a re-inventive nature.

Weddings are a big part of my work and creativity, being part of the planning and preparation of the bride and her party for the big day, is always highly rewarding. For me, styling a brides hair becomes art, a sculpture and an enjoyable challenge.

Vicky Rausa - Creative Stylist

I’ve been in the hairdressing industry for 27 years now and still absolutely love it! I started my journey as an apprentice at Vidal Sassoon, training and qualifying as a stylist..after 10 years at the company I decided to have a change and completed the Tony & Guy training .. I worked there for several years before starting my own business..a salon on the outskirts of cardiff city centre. Taking some out then to have my children I then moved on to teaching my trade and thoroughly enjoying passing on my knowledge and experience.. so present day, I’m working at Yume/uni salons and loving my new chapter.. I enjoy the hustle and bustle of life in the students union.. I’m lucky to be able to to stretch my creativity with the student clientele.. I’ve also received a massive amount of training with Wella and our very own colour master. Also completed some amazing colour courses in the Wella studios including an advanced balayage course...

KAIYA COLES - Apprentice

I am an apprentice at Yume and I love it, I love the atmosphere and how happy everyone always is. I work at both Salons and they are both such fun, I treat them like a second home. Part of my role is to clean and make sure the salon is sparkling at all times... which it is! My favourite part is shadowing the stylists an observing their every move while they are working. I am so grateful that I’m a part of the team and I know I have many years to come within the salon.
